INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPOSING CANDIDATES FOR ADMISSION TO THE

EQUESTRIAN ORDER OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE OF JERUSALEM EASTERN LIEUTENANCY

Important Dates:

• 1 March 2026 – Final deadline for all candidate applications
• June 2026 – Section Day of Formation
• 14 September 2026 – Exaltation of the Holy Cross & Day of Prayer
• 16 October 2026 – Investiture Weekend – Vigil & Promotion Service, NYC
• 17 October 2026 – Investiture Weekend – Investiture Ceremony & Mass, NYC

Candidates for membership must participate in the Day of Formation & Exaltation of the Cross. Sponsors are also encouraged to attend with the candidate.

STEPS FOR MEMBERSHIP

STEP 1     Sponsor explains membership in the Order to the candidate as a distinct call to a life-long commitment of support for the Holy Land.

STEP 2     Candidate completes the following forms and obtains the following documentation:

• Application for Membership Form
• Certificate of Baptism from the parish they were baptized
• Certificate of Confirmation from the parish they were confirmed
• a certificate of religious marriage recognized by the Catholic Church, if they have been married
• current Curriculum Vitae or professional resume
• a Pastor Endorsement letter from their current parish

STEP 3

1. Sponsor reviews candidate’s Application for Membership Form for completeness.
2. Sponsor completes Sponsor Endorsement Form and signs Affirmation Form.
3. Sponsor obtains required copies of documents from candidate:
   • Application for Membership Form
   • Certificate of Baptism from the parish they were baptized
   • Certificate of Confirmation from the parish they were confirmed
   • a certificate of religious marriage recognized by the Catholic Church, if they have been married
   • current Curriculum Vitae or professional resume
   • a Pastor Endorsement letter from their current parish
4. Sponsor signs both Application for Membership and Sponsor Endorsement.
5. Sponsor mails the completed Application for Membership, copies of all Sacramental Certificates and Sponsor Endorsement to:

STEP 4

Once the above forms and documents are received, the Lieutenancy will request:

– Endorsement from the Candidate’s Bishop

– Approvals from the following officials:

• Lieutenant
• Lieutenancy Prior
• Grand Magisterium in Rome

All required forms and documents MUST be received by our office no later than 1 March 2026, to be processed in time for the 2026 Investiture weekend.
